2018 Summer Program Registration !!

Post date: May 15, 2018 12:03:13 PM

I’m excited to announce registration for the Rochester Nordic Racing Summer Program is now open!

The R.N.R summer program is a roller ski specific summer training program for athletes J3-U23 (8th grade- college). We have developmentally appropriate programs for all ages and abilities.

R.N.R has been able to be successful with the support of local athletes, high school coaches, and families. Last summer the program included high school athletes from Brighton, Fairport, HF-L, Pittsford, Irondequoit, and Webster. Over the past 9 years we have had a number athletes move on to ski at the collegiate level and many of them will be back this summer to continue to develop as well as lend a hand it coaching the next generation.

The winter of 2018 was another successful one for all of the athletes of the summer program. The easiest performance indicator for me to look at to gauge the success of the program is Sectionals. Sectionals is where all of the athletes in the Rochester area race each other in an attempt to qualify for state. It's the one race where as many variables as possible are eliminated. This year R.N.R athletes had another successful race and the results indicate this.

For the girls we has a dominating performance with 7 out of 12 athletes going to states!! It also continues the streak of at least 1 sectional champion being from the summer program since the beginning back in 2009. It's also the 5th consecutive year that both the Men's and Women's sectional champions!!! That's pretty awesome!

In addition Grace Mattern was the Womens State Champion ! She is the 6th summer program participant to be crowned State Champion.

Here is a quick run down of the distance results listing the RNR athletes who qualified for states.

1st Grace Mattern

2nd Anna Schriefer

3rd Natalie Northrup

4th Jada Balmer

5th Sara Walter

7th Leah Tolley

10th Olivia Templeton

1st Andrew Warfle

4th Rylan Hodgson

5th Ian Thompson

6th Teddy Warfle

10th Nick Templeton

10th Trevor August

With all the success that was had we still have a lot of hard work to put in! I hope that you will consider being a part of the program this summer to not only become better as an idividual athlete but help your team, section, and state become more succesful as well!!
